Who is eligible for membership?

All active consultants in the upstream oil and gas industry are eligible.  There are no fees and the site does not carry any advertisements other the postings of its members. You will not be put on a mailing list and only e-mails related to your posting will be sent to you.  People not eligible are those who are employed or under exclusive contract.  Consulting firms may have ONE posting, but their employees,  owners and exclusive consultants can not post.  Just go to the [Information for Consultants] page to register.

Is there any fees?

There are no fees of any kind and your e-mail address will not be given out.  You will only receive e-mails related to your posting, one e-mail when you register, one e-mail when you post, and one when change your posting.  Other than that no other e-mails are anticipated.

What if I'm not currently available?

The best form of handling this is if you have a webpage.  You can then put that information on your own webpage.  You also 'hide' your posting from everyone.  To do this, after [Login] you will see a [Edit] symbol by your posting. Clicking on the [Edit] takes you to your posting.  You can then turn on 'hide' there.  You can confirm that it is hidden by logging-out.  When you want it to be visible again, [Login]. Your posting will now be visible.   Select [Edit] next to your posting and turn off 'hide'.  Your posting will not be visible again to others until the website administrator validates it, which usually takes a day.

What if I don't have a resume or webpage?

Only those with a resume or webpage and who wish to share it with the world can post.  This insures that the people posting actually are consultants.  If you don't have a webpage or a resume, it is assumed that you don't want to advertise your services.  The site is INTENDED for those wishing to advertise their services.  You can put as much or as little as you like in your resume, but there must be enough to indicate that you truly are a consultant.  If you are posting for a consulting firm, it is assumed that you will have a webpage.  E-mail addresses and telephone numbers are not permitted in the posting.   Theses should be put in your resume or webpage.

Why can't I see my posting?

Creating a posting is a three step process with each step having several parts as described in [Information for consultants looking for clients].  In steps 1 and 2 you create and activate a user account, also called a profile.   In step 3 you enter a paragraph about yourself.  This is your posting.  The most common problem is that the user fails to complete step 3 as outlined in [Information for consultants looking for clients].  After Step 3 is complete it will be come visible to everyone after it is approved by the site administrator, which usually takes a day.  It should be visible to you immediately, if you are logged-in.

Here is a check list:
1. Login (found at the bottom of [Listing of consultants]).  I can't login.
2. Look for your posting on [Listing of consultants] I don't see my posting.
3. I see my posting, but there is a message saying that I will be the only one able to see it.
4. If all of the above are o.k., you (and everyone else) should be able to see your posting without being logged-in, after it is approved by the site administrator, which usually takes a day.

I can't login.

Have you activated your account?  You should have gotten an e-mail with your Membership Id number and Activation code.  When you get this information, you must enter it in Step 2 on the [Information for consultants looking for clients] page.  If you didn't get the e-mail, it probably means your e-mail address was incorrect.

[Login] is found at the bottom of [Listing of consultants] page.  Your username is your e-mail address (example, me@domain.com), the same address you entered in Step 1 of the [Information for consultants looking for clients] page.   Your password was entered by you in Step 1 on the [Information for consultants looking for clients] page.   If you have forgotten your password, select "Send Password" found on the [Login] page after entering your e-mail address (the same one you used, when creating your account).

I don't see my posting after logging-in.

Here we talk about not being able to see your posting after you are logged-in.  If you can't login, click here I can't login.

If after logging-in you can't see your posting, it means that it wasn't created correctly.   Your posting is a paragraph that you entered about yourself.  It is NOT your resume.   At the bottom of the [Consultant List] page after logging-in you will see [Post].   Click there to be taken to the posting page.  In the yellow box labeled "Posting:" enter a paragraph about yourself.   After submitting your entry, look for any error messages.  If you didn't get an error message, you should be able to see your posting on the [Consultant List] page, if you are logged-in.   If you are logged-out, it will not be visible by you (or anyone else) until it is approved by the site administrator, which usually takes a day.

If you need more help, see: How do I create a posting on your site?

Why am I the only one who can see my posting?

Your posting won't be visible to others until it is approved by the administrator, which usually takes a day.   Also, you must have either a resume (a Word document) or website address entered on the [Edit your profile] page.   The [Edit your profile] page is found at the bottom of the [Consultant List] after logging-in.

How do I edit my posting?

After [Login] you will see a [Edit] symbol by your posting. Clicking on the [Edit] will allow you to edit your posting. Your edited posting won't be visible to others until it is approved by the administrator, which usually takes a day.

My posting can't be seen after editing it.

After editing your posting, you will be the only who can see it (if you are logged-in) until it is approved by the site administrator, which usually takes a day.

Can I list a job opening on your site?

We are sorry, but no.  The site is intended only for consultants to list their services.  We have linked to some consultants that we have found on the Web.  The other postings are by the consultants themselves and unedited by us. All postings are free of charge.

How do I know the consultants listed here are any good?

You don't.   We have no information about the consultants other than what they post on the site. They do not pay any fees to put their listing on this site. We try to verify that they are truly consultants, but this can't be assured.  If you believe that someone is abusing the site, please report this by selecting Report problem with posting next to the suspect posting.

Can I advertise on your site?

No, we do not accept paid advertising of any kind. The only advertising on the site is that of the consultants, which is free to them.
